Lost, damaged or missing ballot

If your ballot never arrives, gets damaged, or you make a mistake you can't fix, call the Deschutes County Elections Office at (541) 388-6547, or go in person to 1300 NW Wall St, 2nd floor, Bend. The last day the county mails a replacement is October 29. After that, pick one up in person.

If your signature is challenged

If the county says your signature doesn't match, you get 21 days after Election Day to fix it. If it isn't fixed in time, your ballot isn't counted and Oregon law makes your registration inactive. [ORS 254.431]

Where Jon stands: as Clerk, no one goes inactive over a signature without a phone call, a text and an email first, not just one letter. Every challenged signature gets a second look from a different staff member.

The County Clerk race

Two candidates are on the ballot for Deschutes County Clerk, a nonpartisan office: Jonathan Curtis and the current Clerk, Steve Dennison. The Clerk runs every election in the county.
